IF: Regarding your work as a Gothic/ EBM DJ, what bands were your favorite to spin, and what artists served as inspiration? I’ve heard you were particularly a fan of Leaether Strip...

RR: Yes, Leaether Strip was great at that time, as well as The Klinik, Nitzer Ebb, 242, Death In June, Current 93, etc..

IF: It has already been made clear that you will never be touring with Wumpscut for several reasons - one being past discontentment with electro concerts. What specific problems do you see with live performances in this genre, and what might you say to fans who are disappointed that you do not wish to tour?

RR: The fans are not the problem. I am sure they would be very satisfied with a :W: concert, but not myself. My self-set level is not easy to reach. Performing electronically on stage, you always have the problem to demonstrate what is played live and what is not. In fact, it doesn’t make any difference. Apart from the well-known "drummer" who has nothing to do than triggering two or three sounds, a singer with moderate abilities and a synth player with no power chord, there is nothing to watch. Oh, my god. Let it be.

IF: What can you tell us about the upcoming releases Totmacher and Eevil Young Flesh? How will they differ from previous Wumpscut releases?

RR: The theme is different - but not too different... The music? Well, it changed a little bit as :W: did several times before.

IF: I’ve also noticed a prevalent mother/child theme in your work. Is there any correlation between this and your own life, or is it just a topic you feel strongly about?

RR: Mother is the great hit, believe me. All my friends love her... Yes, it is more the fascination of being born and being condemned to die.

IF: What is the hardest thing about being a single-member band, and do you think it’s more efficient than multiple-member groups?

RR: Of course it is better when you can set your working time alone. You can decide when, how and why you create your music. On the other hand, you take the risk of getting confused in one-ways, with your creations and/or ideas. It’s a hard life, isn’t it.

IF: Do you frequent clubs or observe what other bands are doing in the genre? Tell us about the last live show you’ve seen...

RR: The last live show I’ve seen was Covenant, as far as I can remember. Quite OK, I think. No, I don’t care about other’s music/performances.

IF: Some people foolishly criticize Wumpscut as being relatively too popular in a negative way. Do you receive any negative comments because you’re not "underground" enough?

RR: Yes, from the people who think music that is widespread must be bad. What a fault they do. They will never find out how and why :W: could enrich their lifes. Let them the time they need to realize that there is only good and bad music outside apart from its popularity.

IF: What’s the most important goal you’re trying to accomplish through your work?

RR: Goal: to communicate, demonstrate and to transfer feelings, so people get the possibility to find out that we all feel the same.

IF: Any last comments or words of wisdom for your fans?

RR: ICH MACHE DICH TOT!
